Michael V. McGloin started in NDT at the age of 17, immediately after graduating from high school, and has worked in various areas of the industry ranging from fieldwork in refineries, power plants, bridges, and buildings to The Boeing Company in Huntington Beach, California working on projects such as the International Space Station and the Space Shuttle.
Michael’s passion for The American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) began when he first became a member in 1991. Due to that passion, Michael is the Regional Director of Region 15 (2015 to present), Chair of the ASNT Penetrating Radiation Committee, and has served on several other national ASNT Committees including the Executive Director Search Committee which he served as Chair. Michael has served through the chairs on the Board of Directors for the Greater Los Angeles Section of ASNT (2002 – 2007), as well as the National Board of Directors as: Director at Large (2015 – 2018), Secretary/Treasurer (2018 – 2019), ASNT President (2019 – 2020), Chair of the Board (2020 – 2022), and Immediate Past Chair (2022 – 2023). Michael also created ASNT’s New NDT Professional Membership category for individuals that are new to NDT, which became available in 2020, and was instrumental in starting a new section in California. Michael has also re-authored ASNT’s Study Guide: Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety (IRRSP) released in 2022.
Michael’s drive for serving on the ASNT Board of Directors was to serve the member and give back to the NDT community. Michael feels that this is such an amazing industry, and that it is truly incredible what anyone can achieve, if they strive for it.
